BEEFSTEAK

‘tis the season for jackfruit, and ‘tis the land of tacos. Hence, Chef Marcel Vignon gives us the jackfruit taco: light but satisfying, textured and flavorful, topped with fresh and unadulterated veggies. Jackfruit has become a unique yet sensical protein for plant-based eaters, and it serves the mighty taco perfectly. Beefsteak’s taco pairs nicely with any of its delicious juices (like the Tumeric Tonic) and especially with the Mexi-Melon tequila drink.

FRANKIE’S ON MELROSE

Frankie is passionate about classic Italian dishes and his menu maintains those consistently delicious standards, made fresh daily. So when there’s a special, you can bet it is special. With artichokes and spinach in season, Chef Jose created a hearty Italian branzino (sea bass) in a white wine/garlic/oil sauce over a bed of tomatoes with those spring green vegetables. All this generous portion needs is the perfect glass of wine, and you’ll find plenty of options on the list.

SPARTINA

Pizza knows no season. It’s not, though, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about grilling. So Spartina’s Chef Stephen Kalt said “why not?” and added four fantastic grilled pizzas to the menu. The dough is made in-house, grilled over almond wood and oak coal, and finished with fresh, local, seasonal toppings. The tomato/basil/fontina is especially springy, and represents the Italy-meets-Cali cuisine at which Spartina excels.
