Seasonal Treats on Melrose

Seasonal Treats on Melrose

Fall is the season for sweets and drinks to tempt and delight, and on Melrose Ave. there are no shortage of either pleasure.

La Chouquette

At the charming Viennese bakery, La Chouquette, owner Elodie Darmon says there are a variety of fall treats on the menu. “We have an éclair with walnuts, honey, and pumpkin cream, and another that is made with dark chocolate and tangerine.” While these desserts are the taste and colors of autumn, she has two other offerings that offer the taste of season, too. “We have apple cinnamon caramelized apples with whipped cream, cinnamon, and salted caramel as a topping. And of course, we plan to be making some pumpkin pies, as well.”

Chef Josette Le Blonde is offering a variety of delicious seasonal pies and tarts at her new just-off Melrose Ave. location. “I’ll be having pumpkin, sweet potato, apple, cherry, and pecan,” she says. Come Thanksgiving time, there will be more specialties of the house, such as seasonal quiches like Zucchini, Ham and Cheese, and Mushroom with Dry Tomato. She’ll be serving up turkey with stuffing and all the fixings, too.
